Izaac's Birth Story - VBAC

Well, we have an update!  I started contractions last night (Monday, October 22nd) about midnight and they were pretty steady until 4.  After that they stalled out and I tried to keep things going with nipple stimulation, chiro adjustment, and a long walk through the mall.  They were stalling out when I stopped moving and since I didn't get any sleep last night Diane suggested I go home and sleep.  I got about a two hour nap when my contractions woke me up and I decided to get moving again with my SIL.  We went out for lunch (went for buffalo wings and I think that did the trick).  I was having regular 6 minute contractions by the time we got home and then things picked up pretty quickly after that.  I called Diane around 4:30 or so to let her know my progress and she was going to run home and then meet us at our house.  Matt and I got in the shower and I was having 2-3 minute contractions by the time we got out.  Diane called at 5 and said she was on her way and I was starting to get a feeling that things were moving along VERY quickly.  When Diane got there she watched me go through a few contractions and suggested we get going.  I very gingerly tried to walk to the car and get in.  At this point I couldn't walk, sit, be on my knees without a huge contraction.  I got in the jeep and laid back as much as I could and propped myself up on my elbow.  Once we started moving, baby started moving.  We got about 2-3 minutes from our house and I had a HUGE contraction with a pushing sensation and my water broke all over the place.  Then I started having STRONG urges to push. Matt called Diane and we pulled over in a gas station.  The baby wasn't crowning, but he wasn't waiting!  Diane drove me to the hospital helping me blow through my pushing contractions.  We called the hospital to have the gurney ready and I called the Doc to meet us there (she didn't think I was as far along as I was and took her time until the hospital called her).  So, we get the ER garage and then put me on the gurney, they check me and the baby is RIGHT there and they want to deliver me in the ER!  Thank goodness Diane was able to park, get in there and ask "don't we have time to get up to OB?"  So we take a very long ride to the 5th floor as I blow through more pushes.  I get to my room and we have to wait another 20 minutes or so for Dr. Kemp to get there.  Once she got there we pushed 6 or so times, she gave me a quick epi (which I was grateful for at that time) and Izaac John was out at 7:12 (we left Carlisle at 6!)  I am feeling good , I can move my toes, and I was able to hold my son as soon as he came out.  I'm sure I could say it could have gone better (maybe an earlier trip to the hospital), but I can honestly say things went as I wanted them to and am so happy we were able to get through it.  I cannot have imagined doing it without Diane or Matt.  They were both so great at keeping me calm and giving me great eye contact when I needed it.  There were a few times I had so say I was scared just to hear myself say it and they were wonderful and easing my fears and talking me through each step.

SOooooooo.......Baby Izaac is 8# 2.5oz and 20 1/4 in. long.   He has a little fuzz and his face is pretty smashed in the pictures.  He has taken to the breast already and is sleeping with daddy on the fold out.

Thank you everyone for helping me through this process.  I couldn't have done it without all of the support and faith!

The difference between a c-section and a VBAC--AMAZING!

I was looking through my baby pictures of Brock comparing what the two boys look like and I came across our family picture after Brock was born. I compared it to our family picture after Izaac was born and decided that the pics in themselves clarify the difference between a c/s and a VBAC.
